Pricing

What gate automation costs

$5,000 to $10,000 and up, installed

These numbers are the operator and the entry side on a gate that is already there. The gate itself is priced separately.

The setupInstalled
Operator on your power, photo eyes, two remotes$5,000 to $6,000
Solar operator, simple keypad, two remotes$7,000 to $7,700
Solar operator with smart entry$9,500 to $10,500

The gate, the operator it takes, how people get in, and how far the power is set the price.

Most operators run on power from your panel, and your electrician brings it to the gate. If the nearest panel is a long way off, trenching can cost more than the operator itself, so the operator runs on solar instead, with the panel and battery at the gate. After that it is how people get in, and that is the difference between the two solar rows.

Smart entry runs on a monthly plan billed by the provider. Plans start around $39 a month and go up if you want a photo or video with each entry. You open that account with them directly and we install the hardware.

01

Simple keypad

One code for the whole site, plus remotes. Nothing to subscribe to. When someone leaves you change the code and tell everyone the new one.

02

Smart entry

Every person gets their own code, a card, or their phone, and you change any of it from an app without going to the gate. It runs on a cellular plan billed by the provider.

On the same operator, smart entry adds about $2,000 to $2,700 to the install. Either one can be tied into an access system you already run, and either one can be set up so a gate opens on a schedule instead of a code.

Fast pricing

Three things to get you a price

01

What the gate is

Swing or rolling, and how wide the opening is. That is what sets the operator.

02

Where the power is

How far the nearest panel sits from the gate, and if there is conduit in the ground already.

03

How people get in

Clickers, timers, one shared code or every person with their own.

Testimonials

What our customers say

Palmers did a great job on my fence and 21-foot electric sliding gate. They showed up on time, did excellent work, and even installed the electric service. They took care of everything.

I asked for a custom fence and automatic gate. I already had a couple of estimates, but their value and quality of work sold me. They completed the job before the date we agreed on.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What does gate automation cost in Sacramento?

On a gate that is already there, the operator and the entry side run about $5,000 to $10,000 and up installed. What moves it is the gate, the operator it takes, how people get in, and how far the power is. Send us the gate and where the power sits and we will give you a number.

Do you repair existing gate operators?

No. Troubleshooting an old operator is a paid visit with no guarantee it will work, and aging units tend to need part after part. We install a new operator we can warranty instead.

Is there a monthly fee?

Only on smart entry cloud plans, billed by the provider. A simple keypad with remotes has no monthly cost at all.

Do you handle the electrical?

Power to the gate is your electrician’s work. Everything from the low voltage side on is ours.

How do first responders get in?

A Knox key switch, a Click2Enter receiver, or the operator itself opening when power drops. A site can carry more than one. The fire department for your address decides which.

What operator brands do you install?

Maximum Controls and LiftMaster.

What comes with a standard installation?

The operator, the photo eyes and edge sensors UL 325 calls for, and two remotes. Keypads, vehicle loops, solar, scheduling, phone app control, extra remotes, and emergency access hardware are add-ons.

Can you work with our existing access control company?

Yes. We can build and install the gate and let your access control or low-voltage company handle the controls, or install hardware you provide.

How do I keep a gate operator running?

Keep the track clean so the gate rolls freely, and do not force or repeatedly bump the operator, since that can knock it out of program.
