We repair existing metal gates: swing, rolling, and man gates in steel, ornamental iron, and chain link. Most of the work is welding, hinges and latches, frame and picket repair, and the track and wheels a rolling gate runs on.

Pricing

What a gate repair costs

What broke, how much of the gate has to come apart, and the parts it takes.

$800 to $3,000 / repair

A gate that got hit is usually a repair. The bent frame sections and the damaged pickets come out, new steel goes in, and the gate goes back on its hinges or its track.

Age and rust are the other case. A rusted bottom rail can sometimes be cut out and re-welded, but when the frame is rusted through and the gate is loose enough to come down, the repair is worth less than a new gate. How much of the frame is still sound decides it, and that call comes from photos or from standing in front of it.

When a gate is past repairing we price a new gate next to the repair, so you can compare the two.

Three things to get you a price

01

What the gate is doing

Dragging, off its track, stuck open, hit by a vehicle.

02

Photos, and a video if it still moves

One photo of the whole gate, then close-ups of the damage. A short video of the gate moving shows us more than a photo does.

03

The gate and the site

Swing or rolling, iron or chain link, the width if you know it, and the city.

With those three we can usually price a repair from what you send. If the gate turns out worse on site, the price moves with it.

Testimonials

What our customers say

I called to have my gate repaired in the morning and they had somebody out by the afternoon. The latch was broken and needed to be re-welded, so it was a small job, but they made it easy and it was repaired quickly.

I needed some repair work done on my iron fence and they took care of me by answering every question I had and did the repairs up to my standards. I will definitely call them again for other jobs.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair gates you didn’t install?

Yes. We repair existing metal gates.

What does commercial gate repair cost in Sacramento?

What broke, how much of the gate has to come apart, and the parts it takes decide the number. Most repairs run about $800 to $3,000. Send photos and we will price it from what you send.

Can I get a price without a site visit?

Often, yes. Send photos or a video of the problem and we can usually give you a rough price by phone or email. That price is based on what you show us, so if the gate turns out worse on site, it changes.

Do you take emergency gate repairs?

Yes. Call it in and tell us what happened and where the site is, and we will tell if we can get to it and what it costs.

Do you repair gate operators or motors?

No. We repair the gate itself: frame, hinges, rollers, and hardware. On an automated gate we’ll fix the gate and reconnect the drive chain, but the operator, motor, and keypad are a separate trade.

My swing gate is dragging on the ground. What is that?

Usually the hinges. We pull the leaf, put new hinges on, hang it back, and re-level the frame so it swings clear and latches again. The post stays where it is when it is still plumb and its concrete is sound.

My rolling gate won’t roll. What is that?

Usually the track and the wheels. Worn V-track and groove wheels get replaced, along with the rubber rollers, and new angle track, guide posts, and stoppers put the gate back on line.

Can you repair a gate after a vehicle hit it?

Usually, yes. The bent frame sections and damaged pickets come out, we weld in new steel, and we refinish to match.

Do you work on heavy industrial gates?

Yes. The heavy end looks like a 24-foot double swing on 6-inch posts, with footings about 48 inches deep and 24 inches across. The opening, the gate, and the material set the post and footing size.

The fence is damaged too. Do you repair fence?

Yes. Bent panels, leaning posts, torn chain link, and rusted lines live on our fence repair page.
