We fabricate, install, and repair metal fencing and gates for warehouses, apartment complexes, retail centers, industrial yards, and public agencies, and anyone who needs a fence. This page covers what we install, what it costs, and how a job runs.

What makes fencing commercial

A commercial fence can be built many ways. Chain link comes in different wire gauges, which is the thickness of the wire, such as 9 gauge or the thinner 11 gauge, and in a 2-inch mesh or the tighter 1-inch mesh. The thicker the wire, the more the fabric costs. The chain link frame can use tension wire or one, two, or three rails. Steel panels come in a commercial grade with 1-1/2 inch rails and 3/4 inch pickets, or a lighter grade with 1 inch rails and 5/8 inch pickets. Posts can be set in concrete footings in dirt, core-drilled into concrete, or mounted on base plates. Most of what we build is welded steel, fabricated in our own shop.

What we install

Ornamental iron and steel panel

We install steel panel and ornamental iron fence in flat top, spear top, and curve top styles. Prefabricated panels come powder coated black, and a fence we fabricate can be powder coated in any color. See ornamental iron fencing, and our steel fence panels guide for the grades, heights, and prices.

Chain link

We install galvanized or vinyl-coated chain link, slatted chain link, and chain link with barbed wire and razor wire on top. See chain link fencing.

Gates and access control

We build swing and sliding gates in iron or chain link, and they can be automated with an operator, keypads, and card readers. See commercial gates and access control.

Railings, bollards, and enclosures

We also build ADA handrails and railings, steel bollards (filled or hollow), and trash enclosures sized to municipal code. See railings, bollards, and trash enclosures.

Repair

We also repair gates that drag or took a hit, leaning posts, and torn mesh. See gate repair and fence repair.

What commercial fencing costs

The material, the height, how many feet of fence, what the posts go into, and the number of gates set the price. Posts in dirt cost less than posts core-drilled into concrete. Gate repair and fence repair each run $800 to $3,000, and a full access control setup runs $5,000 to $10,000 and up.

Working with GCs and facility managers

Most of our work runs as a sub under a GC’s contract. We bid from your plans and specs, carry the insurance certs the contract requires, and schedule around the other trades on site. If you manage a property, we quote the job for you directly.

How a job runs

Most jobs are priced from plans or photos, and when the photos do not show enough, we visit the site first.

Reviews

What our customers say

We’ve subbed Palmer Fence on multiple jobs and they’re our first call for iron and fence work. Licensed, insured, COIs sent same day, and their crews are true pros. Showed up on schedule, no change orders, zero punch list items. If you’re a GC who hates babysitting subs, call Palmer.
